Central Steam Plant
Built in 1916, Avista Corp.'s Central Steam Plant served as the primary downtown steam heating source for over 70 years. With its hand-laid, patterned brick smokestacks, massive boilers and coal bunker, the Central Steam Plant has been imaginatively converted into 36,000 square feet of retail & commercial space.
Steam Plant Square is comprised of the following three buildings:

Central Steam Plant

Courtyard Building

Seehorn Lang Building

Great care has been taken to maintain the ambiance of the original plant. The Steam Plant Grill, a restaurant and pub, is situated in the south end of the building in an original 1930's boiler set amongst extensive catwalks.  It is illuminated by the dramatic arched windows making this unique setting an unparalled dining experience.

Other spaces on the main floor can be designed to house speciality retailing. Upper noncontiguous spaces are designed for one-of-a-kind office spaces.

The Central Steam Plant's Coal Bunker has approximately 2,000 square feet of usable retail/office space... but what a space! Suspended from the fifty-foot-high ceiling, the Coal Bunker is not for the squeamish but a delight for the daring.
